<p>Not this ad for <a href="http://www.football-resistance.com/L-association.htm" target="_blank">Football Resistance</a>, an organisation which is attempting to discourage violence and racism at football grounds in France.</p>
<p>So is South Africa ready for such an honest appeal for calm?</p>

<p>More brands are indeed opting to use extreme shockvertising tactics [surprise surprise] but better yet, gruesome gore, in order to get their messages across.Perhaps the world is so desensitised that the only thing left to attract attention is the strategy of shock.</p>

<p>Much like not being too sure where South Africa is on a map, it seems that most Americans are totally unaware that their beloved soda pop is jam-packed with sugar.</p>
<p>What appears to be painfully obvious to the rest of the world, is a complete surprise to Americans and therefore questions are starting to arise as to whether the language that is spoken over there is actually working as an effective communication tool.</p>

<blockquote><p>The new shock adverts, which are accompanied by the words &#8220;Are you pouring on the pounds?&#8221;, target the billions of hidden calories which Americans consume each year in sodas and other sugary drinks.</p>
<p>Lori Tobin and her daughter, Stella, 11, saw the new &#8220;Pouring on the Pounds&#8221; advert on their daily commute to uptown Manhattan.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s gross,&#8221; said Stella. &#8220;It really opens your eyes. I had no idea there was so much sugar in these drinks,&#8221; her mother added.</p></blockquote>
<p>Fat is big business. If you&#8217;re not able to make money supplying the rubbish people eat &#8211; you can crack the nod to run the billboards to supposedly alert them to the dangers of what they&#8217;re eating. Either way the US government is making millions and laughing at you all.</p>
