Roman’s Pizza ad gets banned by the ASA

We thought this crappy Roman’s Pizza ad was bordering on being a trailer for an upcoming Leon Schuster movie. But after a public complaint that the ad was “an attack on white Afrikaans women” – the ASA has agreed and ordered the ad to be withdrawn.

Romans Pizza has withdrawn a TV ad for its boerewors pizza, called a Boeriezza, after a man complained to the Advertising Standards Authority that the ad was “an attack on white Afrikaans women”.
He also complained that it showed Afrikaners as “backward” and “obsessed with sex”. [read the rest of the story here]

We’re not really surprised. Roman’s Pizza don’t exactly have a very good track record of making sounds advertising strategy choices. Most of their ads are wrong on just so many levels it’s hard to know just where to start.
