All the ESPN 2010 World Cup Murals

They look a bit like illustrations from a children’s bible, but as a set – framed and mounted as posters in a huge loft apartment, we can totally see ourselves wanting to steal them. Done by Cape Town agency Am I Collective for American agency, Weiden & Kennedy and their client ESPN, they make anything related to the London 2012 Olympics look positively silly. Actually anything related to the London 2012 Olympics manages to come across as rather odd and delusional all by themselves.
The Wieden team instructed the illustrators to create the murals in the style of 1980s Ghanaian movie posters. It took nine people three solid months to create the finals. The campaign comprises print, outdoor (including hand-painted versions), digital and an art book. The work celebrates each country’s culture and soccer history. [more via Adfreak]
Look – what we know about art is dangerous, but our favourite? Cameroon – we’d steal that one first and then the rest…

Is it just me, or does the fan featured in the South African poster look remarkably similar to Robert Mugabe?

I love soccer. I enjoy playing it more than I do watching it though. I have to play with an ankle brace on these days! I injured it in college playing and it still hurts! I still love the World Cup though!
