Reebok & FitFlop: shoes that ‘tone’ you into shape

So, what’s up with all of these brands with their new fangled shoes claiming to tighten and firm your legs and butt?
First we’ve got FitFlop, a shoe that’s meant to ‘improve your posture’, ‘increase muscle activity’, and ‘improve muscle tone’ while you walk [because apparently exercising isn’t enough].
NOW with a new TV advert by DDB entitled “Wandering Eye”, we get to watch Reebok try to appeal to the quick-fix club too.
The product is called the EasyTone sneaker, and the ad features a well-toned, fit woman and a camera person who suffers from a bad case of a ‘wandering eye’ [or rather a wandering lens].
According to Reebok their latest and greatest is meant to “work your hamstrings and calves up to 11 per cent harder…[and] tone your butt up to 28 per cent more than REGULAR sneakers” would. Sounds like typical marketing mumbo jumbo to us.
Wonder how long it would take us to achieve that 11 and 28 per cent if we were simply wearing our old gimmick-free favorites?

Reebok EasyTone do actually work!!! What you haven’t looked into in your blog is the technology behind the shoes! They feature balance pods on the soles which creates a natural instability much like a wobble board that you’d use in a gym. This instability is only slight but enough to make you use your core muscles in your legs and butt more than you would in standard shoes. This results in the results you mentioned. I’ve been wearing them for about 4 months now and i’ve never been more toned! I can wear them at times when i don’t have time for the gym or a run and still be getting a bit of a workout just from walking!

There are lots of brands that offer shoes with benefits. Some even have scientific data and testing to back the claims. I found Earth Footwear a few years ago and love how the negative heel has improved the tone in my calves. Wearing them is just like walking on an inclined treadmill. Simple idea but totally effective!

I like Reebok for exercise the most. It’s too comfy when using at time of exercise. I always prefer it and also recommend it to all.
