Cape Town agency makes best radio ad in the world
Posted on 20. May, 2008 by Jonathan Cherry in Advertising
Last week BBDO in Cape Town was awarded a big fat yellow pencil at the 2008 D&AD Awards for there radio advertising creative for Marshall Music.
That means, as far as these awards go, out of only two South African nominations, it was only D&AD winner
in the country; one of only two radio winners in the world. [Listen to it here]
Personally we never heard the ad being played on air, but that could be ’cause we’re not listening to the right radio station. And it would be interesting to know what the increase in foot traffic at the store was after the ad was run.
But alas those small details are never taken into account when it comes to winning metal pencils.

“A native of Stockholm, Dolph Lundgren is a graduate of the Royal Institute of Technology. He has a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney (1982), and was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1983 – but quit after two weeks to pursue acting. [2]. He speaks five languages: Swedish, English, German, French, Spanish, some Japanese, and some Italian.[3] He has a younger brother named Johan and two sisters who reside in Sweden.[4]
Lundgren completed his mandatory military service in his native Sweden at the Amphibious Ranger School. He left this elite marine unit (Kustjägarna) with the rank of conscript corporal.
Lundgren holds a 3rd Dan (3rd Degree Black Belt) in Kyokushin Karate and won the European championships in 1980 and 1981 as well as a heavyweight tournament in Australia in 1982 [5]. He was also captain of the Swedish Kyokushin Karate team, and was a formidable challenger at the 1979 World Open Tournament (arranged by the Kyokushin Karate Organization) when he was only a green belt.[citation needed]”

you won’t hear this on radio because it was created for the sole purpose of entering into awards… that’s how it goes – a big farce…
it’s a question of coming up with a concept and then finding a pseudo client to attach it to…

I worked with Dolph Lundgren on a movie called “Red Scorpion” in Namibia.
He said to a 15 year-old girl, who was visiting the set withh erparents for the afternoon…;
“My face is leaving in 15 minutes, and you’d better be on it”
Idiot?
Dunno… sounds like one to me.
