Shop ‘n charge it

On a recent trip to Joburg, we were killing a bit of time in Sandton City and noticed, what at first we thought was a safety deposit box for your cash [this is Joburg after all], but soon discovered the writing on the side…proudly declaring it to be a public cellphone charging booth.
Looking like a prop from one of those ‘hidden camera’ shows and with instructions that would be equally at home in an Adult World, it’s not the best designed devise around, but an interesting vending idea for a mobile society.
Now if they had one that powered-up laptops, we would have been messing around taking pictures of things like this.

Some Asian airports/shopping malls have similar units.
They encourage the user to remain at the booth while the cell
phone is being recharged as the user can’t lock the phone in a cubicle.
So what does the user do while it’s being charged?
View advertisements on a LCD screen that is incorporated
into the unit.

That struck a funny bone with me! I would have thought the same thing about it being a safety deposit box…that is exactly what it looks like! If you have some free time from your travels, you could check out a great website that I found…http://www.outlawbidder.com/categories/view/54…where you can bid on things like gaming equipment, electronics, handguns, rifles, Remington brand, Smith & Wesson and more!
