Top South African magazines have been cooking their numbers

Shocking news of the morning reveals that a whole bunch of South Africa’s top magazine titles have apparently been committing fraud by over inflating their circulation figures.
The higher the numbers – the more they can charge advertisers.
Media24 have admitted that 12 of their 60 titles including Men’s Health, Sports Illustrated, Wisden Cricketer and Shape magazine are involved.
According to IOL – Three senior managers from Touchline Media, including managing director
Marc Blachowitz, have resigned and are under investigation in
connection with the false circulation figures.
That’s got to hurt.
And if true – this stunt can been regarded as the Enron of the magazine world. Touchline’s success over the years in producing mags which deliver outstanding results for advertisers has been stellar, which makes this news that much more surprising.
