FedEx: Supa Quick
Posted on 13. Jun, 2007 by Jonathan Cherry.
Sharp ads for FedEx. Says so many things about the brand in a cracking creative concept. It’s just too bad their local operation is nothing like the successful US parent brand.
More after the hyper leap.
Caltex makes you go longer and…uh…further
Posted on 13. Jun, 2007 by Jonathan Cherry.
Flying past a Caltex service station the other day – we had to stop and have a closer look at this rather odd, NSFW promotional image for fuel (which apparently, magically delivers better fuel efficiency for your vehicle).
It can’t just be us that finds this just a tad disturbing and bordering on ASA-banning fodder.
Did nobody in the Caltex marketing department do a quick ‘drive-by’ test to observe what kind of possible brand associations a small man tugging on a long yellow stick may possibly communicate to the unassuming motoring public?
Get a free protein shake if you’re able to rip this magazine in half
Posted on 12. Jun, 2007 by Jonathan Cherry.
Back Cover Ad: In order to redeem the coupon for a free sample of Pro
Complex (an advanced Protein Powder), bodybuilders, as a test of
strength, had to rip the entire magazine in half (as opposed to cutting
it out with scissors) and mail the spine in to Optimum Nutrition. [via]
We can just picture this. Buff boy trying to rip the mag in half [ha-nnnnnnnnn] in an attempt to add to his extensive power shake collection.
iCatching: How to make an ad go viral
Posted on 12. Jun, 2007 by Jonathan Cherry.
- How do you achieve the ultimate advertising success in 2007? You get your ad to go viral [like this one for Ray Ban] on the Internet – and we know the secret of how to do it. It’s really quiet easy – pump the WTF index of the creative and you’ve got a winner. [Adweek]
- Turns out that damn Olympic logo is pure genius. Now ever marketer on the planet is going to want a crap logo. [NYT]
- If you are the owner of a record label – shame…maybe time to sell that fancy Ford then, hey big boy? But, it’s never been a better time for getting new music into video games. If you’re in that game – the future looks bright. [Reuters]
- Finally – for those knuckleheads that can never get it, the difference between marketing, PR, advertising and branding [Ads of the world]
New airline for ladies only
Posted on 12. Jun, 2007 by Jonathan Cherry.
If darting off to the bathroom together wasn’t bad enough – a new airline, which caters exclusively for woman is set to launch next month.
Fly Pink [surprise surprise] is a "boutique airline designed especially for women". We’re imagining more toilets and larger bathroom mirror here.
The airline will offer flights to Paris (from Liverpool, UK) for "shopping breaks" in
customised pink planes, and, to complete the experience, will also
provide pink champagne and complementary manicures before take-off.
The whole thing is girls only. Like a secret airline club for oestrogen bearing humans alone.
That’s all fine and dandy – but when are they going to have a plane for men only?
Wall-to-wall Super 14 playbacks, passenger Xbox 360 tournaments, foosball tables, plane length bars and banks of lazy boys enjoyed all en-route to all the F1 races, tri-nations venues and Tokyo…for gadget shopping.

Dockside winter 1 & 2
Posted on 11. Jun, 2007 by Jonathan Cherry.
We headed down to the V&A Waterfront early Sunday for some Java and snaps. Between cold fronts we managed to grab Dockside Winter 1 and 2.

The public respond to the London logo
Posted on 11. Jun, 2007 by Jonathan Cherry.
Armed with ripped copies of Photoshop and half an ounce of creativity – spoofers have delivered their own visual protest – making their feelings know about the new 2012 London logo. [thanks Cara - via]
The BBC even ran a competition to find a better alternative from the public – the winners version was safe, but ok.
…oh, and another underground version.
This has to be the most talked about logo in history.
