Geek centrefold: The Apple iPhone is here
Finally...after years of Photoshop mash-ups and rampant online viral speculation and salivation, Apple have finally relieved the planet's tech geeks and debuted at no.1 in the crime world's "Most wanted stolen cellphone" chart with the brand new Apple iPhone.
Its soooo shiny - with no buttons. Very sexy.
Available in the US in June, Europe by end '07 and Asia early '08. Probably in SA also around early '08 ...and at $599 for the 8GB version on a contract in the states - its not going to be a stocking filler.
But for an iPod / cellphone / Internet / GPS / laptop / detonator tool like this, which also sports a half eaten apple image on the back - its probably well priced.
Much more technical info and loads of pictures from: Engadged, Gizmodo and Apple.

As much of an Apple fanboy as I am (and as much as I would love to have a new full screen iPod that looks like this), my money is still on the Nokia N95 (5 megapixel camera, GPS, web browser, HSDPA connection, does the dishes, close to DVD quality video and does music even though I will stick with my iPod for that) as my next phone (besides the fact the iPhone will probably have been upgraded or superceded by the time it heads in our general direction).
This device is awesome for iPod nano users who don't need much from their phones. It is a real disappointment for those of us who make our phones go oink with all the demands we put on them.

There is no GPS built into the iPhone.
