Ooo Aaaah Cantona kicks off WC 2006

Tapping out the same rhythm that we took with our last ad post themed around the 2006 Super bowl, Nike have launched their football World Cup Germany campaign called 'Play beautiful'; with the first in a series of eight TV ads starring old football legend Eric Cantona.

If you're not sure who Eric Cantona is...think David Beckham with lots of greasy hair and a bit of a temper. Eric kind of paved the way for all other celeb endorsement football stars and also just happened to play for that team in Manchester that everyone likes.

In the first film, Nike steps up to the plate and sets the standard with Eric hijacking a TV station and laying down the law that the '06 WC is going to be the best ever. Skill and passion are set to return, out with foul, dirty, boring play and Oscar acting.
Good thing Bafana aren't in this year's tournament...Nike could have be accused of false advertising.

For the 2010 WC in SA....Nike will probably have Ronaldo hijack a taxi in the Joburg CBD to get to a stadium in Polokwane.
