Flood or famine
The Cape of storms was back in full force over the weekend.
Sunday night, Cape Town was hit by one of the biggest and longest lightning storms Cherryflava can remember.
It rained non-stop, a massive SE wind smashed houses through the night and basically caused mayhem.
You must remember that Cape Town is never ready for these 'beginning of winter' rainstorms. The city council forgets to clear the stormwater drains and the weather office seems to think that a warning of 60% isolated showers is warning enough for all hell breaking loose. The rain is still pumping outside but the report is saying that it's m/cloudy with winds SE 10-19.
Sounds like a brilliant day for the beach.....choppers.
Don't get us wrong....it's awesome to finally get some decent rain.

Haha, sounds like an average Jo'burg thundershower.

You're right - this was the worst I've seen it in all the years I've lived here. But awesome to watch! Just glad I wasn't caught outside in the hail... and that I drive and ancient, thick-skinned car that survived being parked outside.

Did you take this photo? Wow! Must have been an incredble sight.

Indeed it was. I took a video, it's amazing. All you can see is a blank screen until a sudden flash illuminates the sky and trees.
