D-Day South Africa
Posted on 18. Feb, 2004 by Cassandra in Totally Whack
Ok…so you fancy yourself as a bit of a photographer. Do you have dreams about being the next Herb Ritts?
Well here is your opportunity to show your stuff. Following on from yesterday’s posting about the Design Indaba, there is also another Expo linked to the Indada…called D-Day or National Design Day.
The aim…appreciating South African innovation, imagination and style.
As part of the drive, D-Day is having a digital photographic competition.
e-mail us a snap of something that represents South African creativity and innovation and win fame, as well as a D-sirable prize.
Keep your eyes open for D-stinctly South African design. It could be something you saw in the street, something painted on a taxi, a stunning building or a gorgeous piece of locally-made furniture. It could be yourself wearing a great local outfit, or it could be something you made or put together – your hairstyle, your garden, your wedding, your breakfast table, or the things stuck on your fridge.
We’re looking for beauty, inventiveness, quirkiness, humour, for elegance and style. For that in-D-finable South African signature.
Keep your eyes open and your finger on the button. Then send us your take on South African design.

The most imaginative images will be put up on our website, and the winner will receive a D-vinely D-licious hamper from Woolworths.
So…get out your megapixel blaster and hit the urban streets. If you want some inspiration for your project, go check out Satan’s Laundromat and Rion, two of Cherryflava’s personal favourite photoblogs.

About Herb Ritz….I think he takes pictures of guys asses for personal pleasure and the fact that Cherry wants to be just like him is just plain weird dude….or more like gay!

Oh goodie…my first hate-mail.
Thanks you for your keen observation regarding my last posting. I must agree that Herb (not Skip, not Chip…Herb) is a very talented photographer…and also probably gay. The point of the reference to Herb, was that if you are so talented as to make pictures of guys into best sellers and become world famous; then perhaps you should enter the D-Day challenge.
I don’t aspire to be attracted to guys like Herb, but I do admire his talent…anyhow you were the one getting all hot and sweaty over his photos…batty boy.
