Vodacom Fame: The radio stations get into the mix

So the country's radio stations are staging a national dance-off as part of the Vodacom Fame 'Single ladies' dance video thing. Here's the submission from Good Hope FM. And members of the greater Cherryflava family are part of the lineup, so our hand is forced to vote for them, even though we still can't get over the outfit certain members of the crew are wearing in the Jacaranda shoot [which surely deserves a vote or two just for sheer ballsy-ness]

Check them all out here.

NSFW: More Wrangler 'We are Animals' ads

Not as elegant or 'sexy' [for most of us] as the original Grand Prix award winning versions, but they still manage to drive the point home. We are animals - so wear and pair of Wranglers and avoid getting lassoed by a cowboy. [thanks Alexis]

More strange advertising: Racy Oxfam PSA mystifies

The tag on the Youtube page states: This video has been made for Oxfam GB as part of the YouTube Cannes Young Lions Ad Contest.

We were lovin' it until 0:40, after which we joined Greenpeace.

The Nando's / Malema fight goes another round

If you thought Nando's had chickened out and were lying down to the threats of the ANCYL to...well, to stop eating Nando's - you'd be wrong and wouldn't know Nando's very well. [original ad link]

In a startling act of defiance, the spicy fast food chain have released a new version of the controversial Julius Malema election ad, but this one features a voice which is electronically distorted and the puppet's face has been blurred.

10/10 for guts and the company for sticking to their brand principles of never going down without a dirty fight. [new video link]

UPDATE: Seems that Nando's may be a little ballsy due in no small part to a recent ruling in their favour by the ASA - who declared that Ex-SAA boss Khaya Ngqula was fair game to be made fun of in their ads.

In this week's edition of 'don't try this at home kids'

This guy may appear to the untrained eye to be a complete frikken lunatic, but mix his skill up with a bit of music and some slick editing and you get poetry in motion that rivals Susan Boyle's inspirational talent. [video link]

National Skirt Extension Project: All is revealed

The National Skirt Extension Project was unfortunately not for Axe deodorant [as we had speculated] nor for a political party [as we had suggested] - but rather was for Mrs Ball's Chutney.

The mysterious half-page newspaper and sneaky adio ads promoting a campaign to have the skirts of the graphics on ladies public toilets lengthened has now been revealed to have been done as an ad campaign for Mrs Ball's chutney.

Mrs. Ball's wanted to show just how silly it is to change something for no good reason, so we invented the National Skirt Extension Project, demanding that all ladies' toilet signs be replaced with a version bearing a longer skirt. To those who stood up and said "This is ridiculous", clearly we agree. If something doesn't need changing, don't change it. That's why at Mrs. Ball's, nobody changes our chutney. ... Thank you for being such good sports ... No cyclists were harmed in the making of this video. [from the YouTube video]

There's no doubting the campaign caused a huge amount of buzz, but we have to admit are just a bit more than a litlle surprised that South Africa's favourite condiment is behind the whole thing.

NSEP = Mrs Ball's, NSEP = Mrs Ball's, NSEP = Mrs Ball's - that one may take a while to sink in.
It that for real - or another cunning twist to throw us off course?

National Skirt Extension Project: Now causing carnage on our roads

National Skirt Extension Project lamp post signage is so effective, it's causing cyclists to forget that parked bakkies are indeed solid objects through which a bicycle does not pass. [video link] Mwah ha ha.

Sometimes we read our e-mail spam - as a marketing trends exercise

Emailad
This is a powerful e-mail spam message. Graphically enhanced complete with appropriate spelling mistakes and a convenient web link.

What's not to like? Has a more pleasing result that what that uncle used to demonstrate would happen to our brains on drugs. [thanks Katzman]

New Mini Clubman ad is so fake

But we think it's meant to be like that. These people drive like post-drinks drivers on the N1 on a Saturday night.

Samsung viral: Omnia (i900) Unboxing

Most 'viral' ads are made on a shoestring budget on purpose. Many are cheap and nasty and in most cases they don't really do much for the brand they're trying to promote, but rather supply a mildly entertaining video clip for people to enjoy and forget.

But this viral ad for the new Samsung Omnia i900 is more on the money. A great production and a welcomed twist in the usual Gizmodo-type gadget unboxing video. [Youtube video link]
