Seth MacFarlane and Microsoft team up
Finally, Microsoft is doing something a little bit more creative and fun than coming up with unnatural viral videos featuring cheesy infomercial actors. On November 8th Microsoft and Seth MacFarlane [creator of Family Guy] will be pairing up for a commercial-less episode entitled, “Family Guy presents: Seth and Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show”.
No one knows exactly how Windows 7 will be woven into the program, or even how many times it will be mentioned or referred to, but the unlikely duo has created quite a lot of hype on the web today.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Bah, who are we kidding – we live in Cape Town. SABC or eTV won’t have this one on air for at least 2 years.
Windows 7: The kind of ‘party’ you fake sick to avoid!

It’s such a shame when a company with an excellent product, and an imaginative marketing concept, end up making a horrible mess of their final execution.
You’d think that with all the income that a company like Microsoft generates, that they’d be able to come up with something pretty amazing; but alas not this time.
With the roll out of the new Windows 7, Microsoft decided to market their new software to the public by encouraging them to host their own ‘how to operate’ parties. Hosts were to demonstrate to their guests the new possibilities that Windows 7 has to offer, all the while helping them to understand how one can actually go about using the new operating system.
The idea seems acceptable enough, but the way they marketed these parties to the public was painful. In the hopes of getting word out, Microsoft basically created a 6 minute cheesy infomercial void of any creativity whatsoever. Instead of using real life people in believable situations, they hired a bunch of actors [each one relating to a specific target audience] and placed them all together in a totally unbelievable and obviously fabricated scenario.
It’s criminal! So many possibilities to play with, yet such rubbish in the end.
