For a Friday: Neighbours from Hell documentary trailer

In 1987, Eddie and Mitch moved into a low-rent apartment in San Francisco where, through paper-thin walls, they were informally introduced to their middle-aged alcoholic neighbors, Raymond (a raging homophobe) and Peter (a flamboyant gay man). For 18 months, they hung a microphone from their kitchen window to chronicle the bizarre relationship between their borderline-insane neighbors, accidentally creating one of the world’s first “viral” counter-culture sensations on the underground tape market. Revisiting these events through interviews and reenactments with the key players in the phenomenon’s development, director Matthew Bate has concocted a darkly comic exploration into the blurred boundaries between art and exploitation.
We’ll be looking out for ‘Shut Up Little Man’ (2011). Reminds us of Mall Rats.
Documentary Movies: One Day on Earth

On October 10 2010 [10.10.10] documentary filmmakers across the planet recorded footage of the human experience to create the largest participatory media event in history.
The footage from those 24 hours on Earth have now been edited into a feature length movie called One Day on Earth.

It’s about geeks essentially. Very rich and powerful geeks.

Fifty years ago, the only people that were able to publish a book, make a movie or record an album were the ones that were ‘chosen’ to do those things. Today – the Internet has changed all that.
If you’re struggling to understand what happened to your industry that used to be able to make money when control was possible – then the upcoming documentary film PressPausePlay should be considered recommended viewing.
By all accounts – entrance to the movie should be free too.

If you’ve ever wondered about the inner working of the machine that creates your ‘reality’ – the upcoming documentary about the New York Times is one to watch out for.
If you’ve ever wondered how a story as big as Osama Bin Laden’s execution fits so neatly on a time scale right after the Royal Wedding so that the two events don’t clash and disrupt the ‘news flow’ for the week. Or whether the recession was a self-fulfilling prophecy, stoked and created through fear bred via the news agencies – then skip Thor and watch this. Both use equal amounts of fantasy as the basis for the story.

We were wondering when the topic of the advertising industry would stumble into the cross-hairs of documentary film makers with an agenda – and our anticipated waiting has been rewarded by Morgan Spurlock (the guy that took McDonald’s apart in the movie Super Size Me) in his new movie called The Greatest Movie Ever Sold.
Morgan Spurlock + a movie exposing the secretive, devious inner workings of Satan’s incubator = one we have to see.

Inside Job: The story of how banks screwed the world

What do you call 1000 lawyers marketers bankers at the bottom of the ocean? A good start.
That’s how we would have started this movie promo. But it’s an old joke – and the global economic meltdown isn’t. But when all has been forgotten, human nature dictates that those that can feed our need for greed will always be welcomed back into the fold eventually.
So don’t worry bankers – you’ll be able to take that Bugatti Veyron out of the garage real soon. Just hang in there a bit.
We’ve posted about this movie before, so hopefully it gets here soon so that we can go see it and stop staring at the trailer.

SAW VII experiential photobooth

We don’t enjoy horror films. Never have – never will.
But there are those that get off on horror. The intense excitement of slashing knives, spurting blood and freaky over-the-top strobe light flashes are exactly what they want and crave.
Look – it’s not like these films attract the talents of legends like Rocco Siffredi and Sasha Grey to help them along – so they kinda have to rely on all the gory stuff. But we are rather curious to know what it is that is creating this kind of extreme reaction in the booth. It’s not Rocco’s appearance on set – so we wonder what on earth it could be?
