Fly-vertising: What?
Posted on 29. Oct, 2009 by Cassandra.
Here’s a germ-a-phobe’s and an insect-rights activist’s worst nightmare; we’re calling it fly-vertising.
Fly-vertising is basically a mini-advertising banner attached by string to the back of a fly. As the fly travels through the air, lands, and ultimately bugs the hell out of everyone, people not only get a bit of a shock but they also get a short glimpse at the advertisement that the fly is trailing behind it.
We’re not sure who set all this up, or what the official name is [could have something to do with Eichborn?], but apparently these flies were released at a trade show somewhere in Germany.
Apart from the shock factor, we’re not sure how effective this whole thing would actually be [apart from a high fly density place like Australia that is].
But honestly, you’d have to be in doors for this phenomenon to truly be under control. AND you’d probably have to chase after the fly for about a half mile to actually see what the itty bitty advert actually said. Maybe a fly tape company could be of some service then?
Update: VW Polo did a similar ad with Ogilvy, Cape Town this year using ‘bees’. Check it out here. [Thanks Pamela]
