American Apparel now making ads just for Gordon Ramsay
Posted on 07. May, 2010 by Jonathan Cherry.
American Apparel have always prided themselves on building their proudly American brand on a generous helping of T&A. Now they’re changing tact and turning towards colourful copy instead of nipples and butt crack.
It’s bloody well about time advertisers started talking to people in the language that they use. Why should Jack Parow’s ‘Dans Dans Dans‘ not be playlisted on 5FM just because there are a couple of bad words in the chorus? Why shouldn’t the ASA allow ad copy that’s littered with obscene language to go public?
Swear away we say – it’s part of what makes us human. Not allowing it is almost as bad as the apartheid government insisting that all nipples featured in Scope magazine had to be covered with bright red stars in the 80s. It’s childish and controlling.
American Apparel are looking for the best bottom in the world

Controversial American clothing retailer, American Apparel, are looking for new bums. They got tired of the old ones and are hunting fresh ones. So they’ve launched an Internet search where you can upload your own behind [in hopes of becoming the new AA intimates bum of American Apparel] or just browse and vote for your favourite.
Seriously – only a brand like American Apparel would be brazen enough to host a Hot or Not bum ranking campaign and label it advertising. We can’t make up our minds as to whether it’s a great advertising idea or just soft porn
Note: We have no affiliation with the contestant who is calling herself ‘cherry’ and is currently ranked in 10th place.

Britain bans latest American Apparel boobvertising
Posted on 29. Sep, 2009 by Jonathan Cherry.
The advertising police in the UK have banned this American Apparel print ad which appeared in Vice magazine recently.
The UK ASA deemed the ad “offensive and irresponsible” as the girl in the ad appeared to be under the age of 16. American Apparel on the other hand claim that she is in fact 23 and is meant to represent an average young woman ‘relaxed and comfortable’ lounging around at home reading War and Peace for the third time.
It’s either that or she’s getting ready to rob a convenience store of beer and cigarettes. There’s no way she’s 16 – there would be a cellphone firmly clasped in her hand if she were.
