The head office was reported to look like a military bunker, situated in a desert with most of it underground. Today we see pictures – and even if it is more than ten years old, it’s still a pretty rad place to spend your offices time as an employee.

The show consists of 47 art pieces inspired by, and made from, Red Bull cans. The striking pieces include a Medussa head, a Hermes foot and a “Fab-redbull-ge” egg, among others. The event also incorporates couture, featuring designs by former contestants from the popular reality show Project Runway. The exhibit runs through March 14 and then again in Dallas, TX, in July.
Proximity engaged public lighting [lights that you can play with] is a big turn-on for us here at the Cherryflava HQ. Some members of the team actually stash copies of LED lighting catalogs under the small arsenal of guns that we store here. It’s like Scope magazine for nerds.
You Fade To Light” allows the audience to engage with the light itself intuitively and in a physical way. With custom software developed by designer Chris O’Shea, it has been built in London with several hundred unique OLEDs from the world’s first-ever production line for OLED lighting at Philips in Aachen, Germany.
In general, city skyscrapers are damn ugly. It’s no wonder people feel tired and listless when they walk into these places. They’re not natural, or fun or inspiring in anyway. How innovation and creative thought is meant to flourish in a solid concrete block pumped full of artificial light and air conditioning is beyond us.

So it’s pretty exciting to see how some interactive designers are playing with QR codes, LEDs and augmented reality to make city landscapes – more there!

Sadly – we don’t for a second think that any of this thinking will be implemented in South Africa any time soon, but it’s always inspirational to see how creative, interactive technology is making cities more attractive and engaging elsewhere.

You guessed it – it’s a tea-infusing yellow sub for the more playful tea drinker. Down bubble. [thanks Izzie]
