Visa one of the big World Cup 2010 sponsors have finally released their advertising trump card for the tournament.

It features a large English bloke running his way to South Africa and a slimmer appearance [cause the flights are too expensive - and let's face it, Africa is beautiful this time of the year so it would be rude not to take a quiet jog through the continent en route to playing a few football games]

Billboards, activations and free money to follow shortly.

We like it. Music makes us wanna limber up for a power 10 kay right now.

Nando’s are spoofing again! This time in response to DA MP Dianne Kohler Barnard’s alleged remark to the parliamentary speaker of the house as she stormed out of it this week. [Full story here]

In summary, there was a fight in parliament, somebody was asked to leave, in solidarity a couple of opposition parties walked out and Dianne was overheard dropping the F-bomb while leaving. That was Monday. Today is Friday and here’s the Nando’s take on the whole matter.

We don’t think the Local Organising Committee [LOC] could have approved a more sterile, bland and uninspiring World Cup 2010 lead-up advertising campaign.

Make sure you can say “I was there”? Seriously? Is that what you think is going to ‘drive ticket sales’ and ‘excite the nation into a frothing frenzy’ ahead of the tournament? Does somebody on the LOC own a stake in an outdoor advertising company?

Deservedly Nando’s have now spoofed the whole thing with a radio ad. It’s the least anyone could do to bring just a glimmer of a smirk to an otherwise very dated and forgettable body of creative work.

As you would expect being situated in the middle of a desert, Dubai is a pretty dusty place. The stuff gets everywhere and in particular, has a nasty habit of settling on cars.

Keeping this in mind, Ogilvy Dubai came up with a crafty way to promote BP Visco oil.

They created this stencil, slapped it onto the dusty bonnets of cars and then simply dusted the filth away to reveal the guerrilla-style message.

So they’ve launched an Internet search where you can upload your own behind [in hopes of becoming the new AA intimates bum of American Apparel] or just browse and vote for your favourite.

Seriously – only a brand like American Apparel would be brazen enough to host a Hot or Not bum ranking campaign and label it advertising. We can’t make up our minds as to whether it’s a great advertising idea or just soft porn
