Posted on 23. Nov, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City have begun their annual 3D projection mapping project – and this is their 2011 instalment.
It’s an impressive production for a store that find itself in the midst of a recession in America. Then again…recession in America? What recession in America.

Admittedly this is not the greatest video, but it is yet another example of some experiential interactive powered by XBox Kinect.
Catvertising: An emerging advertising trend
Posted on 21. Nov, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
We have access to an unprecedented amount of computing power today – and 90% of us use it to look at cats. In fact, your cellphone has more processing capability than the computers used to land Apollo 11 on the moon. But we use this potential for sending SMS’s about which brand of milk we must buy and checking Facebook.
Throwing all need to long, pointless creative brainstorms out of the window - john st. has opened the world’s first cat video division. Cats already entertain millions by just being cats – why re-invent the wheel people? And here you thought advertising was a real profession.

We have the whole projection mapping production side pretty well sorted, but we know the next step – is projection gaming. Love this concept from B-Reel for an event where multi-player interaction is a given.

XBox Kinect: How will this influence interactive design?
Posted on 16. Nov, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
The XBox Kinect is potentially a revolutionary step forward when it comes to the integration of digital and real-world experiences. From education to commerce this technology has the potential to free us from physical electronic hardware. Amazing in the right hands.
Advertising is visual pollution
Posted on 14. Nov, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
‘Advertisers don’t care about you or your neighbourhood – they care about your eyeballs’. A strong message from a new documentary film called This Space Available, which deals with the issue of ‘visual pollution’ or billboard advertising.
So are the 99% set to turn their crosshairs from the bankers towards the advertisers who only care about consumer LSMs and target markets [as if there was a war going on] instead of real people? Who knows. Watch this space.
The Starbucks magic cup

The jury is still out for us when it comes to augmented reality advertising applications. At first it seems cool, but once you’ve goofed around with the things once, will you bother to play with it again?
