Rosberg, Schumacher and Mumm

Perhaps just a tad too lateral in meaning…

…and Cell C chimes in
Posted on 08. Apr, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
We thought Trevor had been ‘relieved of his duties’ as Cell C CEO, but no…here he is again telling us how efficient Cell C is as apposed to Vodacom.
Think all of these cellular guys should get together and have a public showdown. A true test of speed and agility so that we can make the subjective decision for ourselves as to which network is better.
Come on black, red, yellow and…the other illustrated one. Haal uit en wys!
First…

So when you think of the colour ‘red’, which brand pops into your head first?

Jared Leto pays tribute to Kurt Cobain
Posted on 07. Apr, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
There will only ever be one Kurt Cobain, but as a tribute to the singer who died 17 years ago on the 5th of April – emo-rocker Jared Leto dressed up as, and convincingly imitates, the Nirvana front man. [via]
We still maintain – that all indications point to the return of grunge to the pop culture mainstream. It may not originate from Seattle this time, but the movement will return – oh yes, the movement will return.
If you’re 17 and haven’t a clue who the hell this Kurt Cobain guy is – here’s to your education…
Ball of Light – how creativity saved a life
Posted on 06. Apr, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
Getting passed all the soppy sentiment – Ball of Light is a 15 minute documentary about light painting and how it made one sales guy realise that life ain’t so bad after all.

Light as air? This ad actually gives us a bloody good idea to try make this air=powered device to see how well it works.
It looks impressive enough.
Heineken – April 1st 2011
Posted on 05. Apr, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
Like Valentine’s Day and Christmas – April the 1st is now owned by advertisers. The original meaning of the day has long been forgotten, but that shouldn’t stop a good ol’ beer prank from happening.
Beer and bikes – Internet gold.
[thanks Jason]
Mr Lube gift card
Posted on 04. Apr, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
We can literally hear the sigh of desperation the creative team let out when they were briefed with the job to make a free oil change voucher card cool.
The result isn’t too bad though and they should reward themselves with a 5-minute smoke break.
Mr. Lube offers their customers fast, warranty-approved oil changes. We created a unique gift card that replicates a dashboard indicator light. It appears to switch off when the card is taken out and used.
Best Retail Brands 2011
Posted on 04. Apr, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
We love brand ranking surveys. Nothing in business is cooler than competition and the ranking of brands in relation to each other. So it was which some excitement that we read Interbrand’s latest retail brand survey and the accompanied best retail brands of 2011 ranking.
Problem is that there are zero – nada – no African retail brands listed in their write up.
America / Canada / Europe / Asia Pacific and that’s where the world ends.
Oh well – their loss.
According to them however – the top three emerging retail trends of 2011 are:
- Customer’s demand for a more seamless retail experience.
- The need for human touch in all interactions.
- An increasingly interrelated global retail market.
Dynamic consumer brand experiences are key in successful retail branding.
