Google introduces a ‘Like’ button
Posted on 31. Mar, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
Well – they’re calling it a ‘+1 Button’, cause like would be too much like that other website that people like to use.
To use it you have to have a Google account and then others can see what you are endorsing. User recommendations – Google seems to be going that route too.
Adidas Originals – MEGALIZER
Posted on 31. Mar, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
‘MEGALIZER’s are the first shoes that let dancers create their own music with their moves.’
Sounds whack – but will probably be a huge hit. And when promoted together with France’s super duo, Les Twins – you got a hot one right here baby. New media is going real world in a big way. The fantasy reality continues.
The Bicycle City: How bicycles can completely transform an entire city
Posted on 30. Mar, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
If you’re wondering how the growing network of cycle lanes across Cape Town could potentially improve the city economically – consider the story of Rivas, Nicaragua, an impoverished developing nation town transformed by the empowerment of its citizens through bicycles.
Inspirational – another movie to add to the list.
Magic Mirror: Augmented reality app for iPad 2
Posted on 30. Mar, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
The number of truly useful augmented reality applications have been few and far between up until now. Most of the time a surprising 3D rendering on top of an everyday object viewed via a computer device has captured the imagination of viewers for 20 seconds…and then they’re distracted once again by more important things in life – like breathing.
Total Immersion, the global leader in augmented reality, revealed the first augmented reality application developed for the iPad 2. This playful application titled, “AR Magic Mirror” gives users a selection of wacky virtual hairstyles, glasses and accessories to try on, or to try on their friends. The app uses facial recognition to identify the user and apply virtual 3D enhancements to their video image in real time through augmented reality functionality. “AR Magic Mirror” is planned to be a free application available on iTunes.
It’s still not really useful, but we’re getting there.
The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
Posted on 29. Mar, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
We were wondering when the topic of the advertising industry would stumble into the cross-hairs of documentary film makers with an agenda – and our anticipated waiting has been rewarded by Morgan Spurlock (the guy that took McDonald’s apart in the movie Super Size Me) in his new movie called The Greatest Movie Ever Sold.
Morgan Spurlock + a movie exposing the secretive, devious inner workings of Satan’s incubator = one we have to see.

McDonald’s billboard in Cape Town gets bombed
Posted on 28. Mar, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
We’ve been up in Joburg and missed the excitement in Long Street where the giant McDonald’s billboard, that is estimated to cost in excess of R350 000 a month for the space, has been defaced by vegans.
Cow-kissing, lettuce munchers cleverly added the word ‘…not’ below the infamous ‘I’m lovin’ it’ trademark copy. Nobody noticed…until last week, so the defacing may have happened ages ago. It’s really that scary. We haven’t stuffed our faces with a quarter of a pound of processed meat in ages and haven’t even felt the need to for a while now – so the guerrilla action must have worked then. Hopefully they’ll fix it soon.
If the guys from Jackass had to do an activation

This thing feels very Japanese and seems perfect if you like your advertising communication smashing huge globs to colour in your face.

For a Friday: Moments – from Quiksilver
Posted on 25. Mar, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
When the brand is Quiksilver, creating totally wicked branded entertainment that’s free to share and view on the Internet is like child’s play.
Enjoy.
Nokia x Burton: Like real life SSX Tricky
Posted on 24. Mar, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
We’ve unfortunately only been on a snowboarding trip once, but this new innovation from Nokia reminds us that it has always been our intention to return to the piste.
Love the idea that data can be a branding tool.
[thanks Chris]
Kickin’ it with Kraak & Smaak
Posted on 23. Mar, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
If you haven’t heard – flip books are hot right now. You know – the rad thing you did with your science text book while you were meant to be listening to how cold fusion works.
Song is ‘Squeeze Me’ from a Dutch duo called Kraak & Smaak. Digging it lank!
