Bigger than an iPad

The largest touchscreen in the world can be found at the University of Groningen in the the Netherlands.

The most important stats about the thing is that it is very big and it’s capable of reading up to 100 touch points simultaneously (that’s 10 people using their hands…all fingers…no feet).

That’s one very big iPad. Wouldn’t it be something if Jacob Zuma had to show the nation his plans for world domination on one of these things tonight?

All advertising, besides that done for Marmite, takes advantage of a fair amount of ‘creative license’ to augment the benefits of the product being promoted. Most of it is very PC – almost sickly sweet in it’s representation of what supposedly happens in real life.

Not this ad for Football Resistance, an organisation which is attempting to discourage violence and racism at football grounds in France.

So is South Africa ready for such an honest appeal for calm?

On the surface of it – the shaving helmet can be seen as a quick way for skinheads to make sure they are never mistaken for their head haired brethren. In just 24 seconds it’ll remove every hair on your head. Impressive.

In Egypt it’s perhaps being considered for a recalibration to be used by police to make sure that those testy pro-democracy people diminish in number over time. Either way, it’s dodgy.

Animals and human stereotypes were again the popular vote winners in this year’s best Super Bowl commercials.

Have to admit – the game seemed more enteraining than the ads to us, but that’s just because NFL football is probably the most well put together television spectacular on the planet. Not much can touch it as the pinnacle of back-to-back TV entertainment hooks.
