Dog Collar Devil
Posted on 28. Feb, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
We’ll be presenting a few marketing thoughts at the monthly AMASA gathering at the Mount Nelson Hotel this Wednesday afternoon. We’ll be breaking the number one rule of just about everything and touching heavily on the topic of religion. See ya there.
Review: Olympus Tough 3000
Posted on 28. Feb, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
It may look like a box of luxury cigarettes, but the Olympus Tough 3000 that we were sent to review is more at home in less urban surroundings.
You see unlike most point-and-shoot cameras on the market these days this one is designed to take pictures underwater, of the shark that is trying to use your leg as a tooth pick. And then is strong enough to be used as weapon against the beast as your attempt to flee from the scene of the snacking.
It is therefore, as you may have gathered, waterproof to a depth of 3m and can be thrown with force at anything hard that is less than 1.5m away. Which is great if you’re the type of person that doesn’t consider a Playstation an important life accessory.
Picture wise it takes nice enough snaps. There are loads of fancy programmable settings to goof around with, some more useful than others. We weren’t overly impressed with the battery life span, but it lasted long enough between charging to record the gist of what we were trying to take photographs of. It’s easy to use, doesn’t draw to much attention from security when your take pictures inside Cavendish Square and is light enough to carry around as you see fit.
Would we buy one?
The main attraction of this camera is the ‘tough’ bit of its name. If you want a mik-’n-drik that can withstand a trail run or you need something to take some snaps of your girlfriend learning to surf in a bikini then this is the camera for you. Performance wise it’s a pretty standard option, but if you’re looking for the camera version of that orange Nokia that everyone misses…this is your boy.

Are your limitations real?
Posted on 28. Feb, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
Older people are very fond of ‘knowing their limitations’ – a concepts that very young people have no knowledge of.
So where do these limitations come from? Are they real – or a direct result of the social programming that we are constantly subjected to?
Perhaps our ability to truely innovate is really just a state of mind. Think ‘out of the box’ – only if you believe ‘the box’ to exist in the first place.
Puma’s pop-up experience hits Joburg

Gird your loins and mark your diaries people of the North, for the Puma Social pop-up venue is set to reveal itself to your city from Thursday 10 March to Saturday 12 March at the Corner House, situated at 77 Commissioner Street in Braamfontein.
PUMA Social Club is a pop-up retail and nightlife venue that brings the concept of “vintage” social sports to life. Celebrating the notion of being social, not just online but in everyday life, the PUMA Social concept is about having fun and hanging out with friends.
Entrance is free and guests can expect a variety of live entertainment each night, as well as pool, foosball and bowling. After-hours athletes are also encouraged to re-fuel on late night food that will be available through various vendors at the venue.
So if you are better at running a bar tab than a half marathon – then this one is certainly for you.

Coke own the emotion of happiness in Brazil
Posted on 23. Feb, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
Seriously – have a look at how unhappy and miserable these Brazilian city dwellers were before the Coke van arrived and their complete sense of community and elation after they get a free hit of Coke.
Even a free surfboard doesn’t seem to have as much of a positive result as a free drink.
[Thanks Andrew]
Vitamin B wine
Posted on 22. Feb, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
Wine branding is usually stereotypically dull and safe. It’s not too often that the look and feel of the stuff is teleported into the year 2110.
Luckly we’ve now discovered a wine that’s packed full of our daily RDA of Vitamin B. Made by an old friend of ours Wade Metzer – who specialises in the crafting of fine Syrah – we can’t wait to slurp it down while playing Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Scarlett Johansson performs a magic trick for Moët & Chandon
Posted on 22. Feb, 2011 by Jonathan Cherry.
This story has been doing the rounds for what seems like decades. But finally Moët & Chandon have released the official pictures and a video of Scarlett Johanssen getting thoroughly pissed on their Champagne and lounging around in a castle.
It’s a fantasy land of drapes and fabric that few of us will ever experience in real life. Magical indeed.
People before people

Footage of what is said to be one of the last ‘uncontacted’ tribes in the Amazon rain forests has now been released as a trailer for a new film.
There’s no doubt that they will be soon be exploited by being made to appear in a Britney Spears music video before long, which basically sums up the difference between their world and the sad one we supposedly live in.
Brazil is thought to be home to around 70 isolated tribes.
Invite everyone into your Living Room

We’ve been perfecting our own projection mapping techniques in our lab over the last while, so it’s always good to see what others are doing in the medium as part of our ongoing research.
Mr Beam created this arresting example of small scale 3D mapping that is simply sensational as an illusion.

Porsche puts its Facebook fans’ names on a racer

A GT3 R Hybrid Racer that is, which will go into the Porsche museum as a thank you gesture after Porsche recently secured its 1,000,000 th fan on Facebook.
The majority of brands just use Facebook as another channel to spam people – so it’s touching to see at least one using the asset in a more personal manner.
