BP seem to have run out of ideas on how to stop the annihilation of the Gulf of Mexico – so have turned the ecological genocide into a cheap marketing campaign by asking the public for their ideas too. The top hat thing and the money shot have both unsurprisingly failed.
This is the same company that was granted the responsibility to extract oil from under the ocean presumably because they had thousands of really intelligent, skilled people working for them. Now they’re asking the public for some bright ideas? Weird that they didn’t need help in spending the vast amounts of money they made from the exact same practice for decades.
Here’s an idea BP – considering how much you’re able to suck already – don’t block the hole, just suck the oil as it leaks from the earth and continue making money. No mess no fuss. You don’t have a problem, just an alternative sucking issue that needs to be solved. What’s a coastline in any case?

Yes – our driving of a car is completely in line with an oil company’s complete lack of management and transparency when it comes to an oil disaster.

The point is that oil companies make mistakes while hunting for oil. It’s part of the process, and it could have happened to any company anywhere in the world. No one was criticising, in this case, BP for “destroying Earth” BEFORE they messed up. Or, at least, no one was moaning as loudly as they are now.
Yet those who moan continue to enjoy the oil used for cars, planes, ships, etc, while happily maintaining the demand for more oil.

Considering the lack of options apart from using oil-based fuels to function in a modern city environment – it’s not like we really have a viable alternative at this stage.
As for the lack of criticism before all of this – well, who are you kidding? The oil companies – including BP and Shell have been causing more than their fair bit of mayhem just on the continent of Africa to warrant countless amounts of public outrage.
Lies, cover-ups, corruption – and that’s just in their secretarial pool.
If we could ride a donkey around Cape Town to stop doing business with oil companies, we would – but that’s not an option. So for now – we’ll criticise on the forum of our choice and remain conscience oil consumers.

Ah yes… hypocrisy our old friend.
If you TRULY opposed the oil companies, you would find other means of transport or you would drastically cut down your oil-consuming habits.
Now, if you\\\’ll excuse me, I have a new car to go test drive.
