‘Shock and outrage’ over taunting Teazers billboard
Posted on 01. Oct, 2009 by Jonathan Cherry in Advertising
A national uproar has resulted following a South African adult revue chain posting a billboard up in Johannesburg featuring a heavily photoshopped model appearing to smoke a cigarette.
Due to the country’s very strict anti-smoking laws [and the sensitivities arising from the discovery that the present Big Brother housemates all seem to be raging chain-smokers] the image of the woman with plumes of smoke cascading from her open mouth has got the health advocates in a bit of bun fight to see who can send a letter of complaint to the ASA first.
In addition, the words – No need for Gender Testing – would at first seem to be a crafty stab at the recent Caster Semenya balls up. But Lolly Jaskson, the owner of the chain of adult clubs, says there’s no connection…and so that’s that.
Contrary to a few rumours Lolly is also not actively planning on hiring the South African 800m star as part of his Spring / Summer lineup.
