Why play to an audience of thousands when you could be performing for millions online. This is the idea that has dawned on the world of rock – and they’re going hell for leather to milk the trend.
U2 recently performed live to the world from the Rose Bowl on YouTube, now…

…the Foo Fighters will be performing live on Facebook tonight [actually tomorrow morning South African time].
Facebook has teamed with the Foo Fighters to stream a concert live tomorrow night from the band’s Studio 606 headquarters in Los Angeles. You can RSVP to the event here, and stream it live here. [More over at Techcrunch]
A comfy sofa, cold beer, no need to queue for a nasty boerie – bandwidth aside, what’s not to love about live concerts via the web. Bring it on we say. We’ve always felt that branded content was a winner as a marketing vehicle and the reach of the Internet will make this a juicy prospect for advertisers.
