This year, as part of the annual Blundstone Art to Boot auctions which took part all across Canada this month and last, various celebrities and artists were asked to ‘art up’ a pair of the Australian brand Blundstone boots aka Blunnies.
Along with 14 other pairs of creatively designed Blundstone boots, this pair of ‘Firewalker’s, a wannabe cowboy boot outfitted with a set of matches and a ‘striking strip’ at the back (the perfect shoe for all pyromaniacs), were submitted for auction at the Vancouver event.
The Vancouver auction acted as a fundraiser for Access to Media Education Society (AMES), a charity designed to help people develop their communications skills by giving them access to technology and media training.
Even though some of the shoe ideas are way way wacky, this sort of thing must do wonders for their brand image. Despite normally being associated with basic practicality and functionality, Blundstone, with the use of these charitable auctions, are able to tie their brand with creativity and innovative design. Awesome!
