Greetings from Malaga

Greetings from Malaga.
Internet access is more expensive than SA so will do a full report from the Costa del Sol hopefully later this afternoon…after we’ve mugged a non-existent airtime vendor for their goods.
Wicked McDonalds breakfast campaign in Vancouver
Posted on 21. Sep, 2009 by Cassandra.

Watch out below!
Check this out – The Vancouver arm of ad agency, Cossette created a wicked instillation/ad campaign for McDonalds.
As a means to attract more breakfast eaters to their fast-food franchises throughout the city, they not only organized free McDonalds coffee for 2 weeks, but they also set up a couple of different instillations around downtown Vancouver.

Hourglass
Close to 6th Ave and Cambie, they transformed an ordinary lamppost into a pot of pouring coffee. At a different location [in a regular bus shelter] they made the walls look like an hourglass filled with coffee beans.
Simply classic!
GoodHopeFMTV – Cape Town Fashion Week 1

The Cherryflava crew helped out SeanO, Stephanie Bee and the GoodHopeFMTV guys with a couple of episodes covering the recent Arise / Cape Town Fashion Week.
Here’s installment 1.

Copy: Monday 10 September 2001 – The world can change in a day. Don’t miss your daily edition of in-depth news.
It’s not often that a print ad literally jumps up and throttles our attention like this one – done for local newspaper brand Cape Times – did this morning.
There are four executions. This one in reference to 9/11, another (beautifully shot) for Hiroshima 1945, the JFK assassination and the ’76 Soweto riots [all after the jump].
Using iconic events from history, the campaign highlights the fact that world-changing events often can¹t be predicted and that the course of history can, quite literally, change in a day.
Love the art direction and the hard-hitting message of these ads. Stunningly arresting.
Makes you think what the Virginia Tech campus looked like on Sunday morning.
Athena Sofa: Built in ‘convenience’
Posted on 18. Sep, 2009 by Cassandra.

Athena Couch
Talk about one stop shopping!
Going for about $15,000, the Athena sofa has almost every entertainment device built in.
Get this; the thing’s got two LCD screens, a PC with a docking station for an iPhone or an iPod, a bunch of speakers, and an 8 inch subwoofer. There is even talk about the upholstery being ‘weather-proof’.
Sounds great, but there’s just one little problem; where are all of us couch-potatoes meant to rest our heads while taking a snooze or watching an episode of Isidingo?

High tea and graffiti

Imagine taking something so English as high-tea and mixing it up with some street tagging to get something refreshingly new.
MJ tribute sneakers to die for!
Posted on 18. Sep, 2009 by Cassandra.
Just in case you thought the crazy media coverage of the late Michael Jackson had gone completely overboard, another doozzy has just been thrown into the mix; trademark exploitation.
Hard-core fans are now able to purchase their very own pair of MJ tribute sneakers. The shoes come in a range of different colour combinations, and patterns. Pictures of the King of Pop are even printed on. Ah, to die for!
Just one question – of all things, why sneakers? When was MJ ever seen wearing sneakers? A corny glove maybe yes; thus a new tribute line of Isotoners or sparkling gardening gloves would at least make sense. But sneakers? Come on. ‘Hee Hee.’

Monopoly City Streets: Take over your own bit of the world…mwahahahaha

The Monopoly Dude
Ah the sweet taste of world domination – come on, you can’t say that it’s never crossed your mind before. Fortunately, Monopoly and Google Earth have teamed up to make this harmless desire come true.
As Google Earth is one of the most popular online applications around, and Monopoly is one of the most well known board games of all time, it seems as though each company saw an opportunity to make something different that combines the best of both worlds. The result of all of this is a global online game called Monopoly City Streets.

Cape Town could be yours
In Monopoly City Streets you are initially given 3,000,000 million dollars to buy and sell property from pretty much any location in the world whether it in Paris, New York, or Cape Town. At the beginning you are prompted to buy a street. If someone owns it, you can either make an offer to buy, or try to sabotage them. Your goal, like in any monopoly game is to build your own little empire of property through crafty negotiation.
The game is only available until January 31, 2010. So if it sounds like something you’d be into you’d better start soon.
Hmm what’s a good new name for Cape Town? Anyone?

iTwinge: Giant fingertips get a bit of a rest

iTwinge - Helping giant fingertip people around the world
If you’ve got a touch screen phone [of any kind], you know how frustrating it can be to type out a simple email, address, phone number, or SMS. Our fat fingertips were simply not meant to highlight such small and sometimes unruly buttons [or whatever you choose to call them].
Meeting of Important People: Music video with a ‘crazy cardboard city concept’
Posted on 17. Sep, 2009 by Cassandra.
Check out this crazy video, Brittney Lane Don’t Care, by indie-rock-pop band, Meeting of Important People.
The Pittsburgh based group had their set, the animations, and all of their musical instruments made completely out of cardboard. Directed by Thom Glunt, this music video has brought a lot of attention to an almost unknown band. Talk about setting yourself apart from everyone else. Wicked!
