Buddha Pears - Shame where do you bite first?
With some hard-work and a little bit of imagination, Chinese farmer, Gao Xingzhang has successfully created 10,000 Buddha look-alike pears.
How did he do it you ask? Well, basically, Gao designed a plastic structure that when placed overtop a growing pear, moulds it into whatever shape the plastic may be.
Gao says that people consider the deity shaped pairs as ‘lucky’ and ‘cute’.

Growing Deities
Although each pear goes for about £5 each, apparently he has already sold a large number of them to those in his local town of Hexia in Northern China. Gao’s sales have been so good, that he is now thinking of selling them in the UK and the European markets.
We reckon that some creative farmer here in SA could make a small fortune producing a mould, or 10,000 look-alike Mandela pears. What do you think?
