New Nandos homepage looking pretty hot

Check out the new Nando's homepage. It's all flash and fun and pretty much devoid of corporate drivel-type stuff that nobody reads in anycase. Just makes you wanna click everything to see what pops up. Mmmm…chicken.

You like new Nandos site? Ya sure it looks very pretty but fails as a truly good website in my opinion.
The first thing that makes a good site is usability, the “pretty stuff” should come later. Why are people going to go onto the Nandos site? To play around or to get info?
The great thing about the internet is that it is meant to save us time – it is faster to walk to a Nandos and pick up a menu than to firstly try find the menu on this site and then to have to wait an hour and a half every time I click on anything because a whole new flash page has to load (especially in SA with our rubbish broadband)…
Looks nice and cute but a good website, it is not.

I agree, it sucks. and that isn’t the home page, that’s the page you land on after the closed door splash page and 2 minutes of pointless preloading.

The flash loading is a pain – agreed and it’s going to take a bit more time to find something quickly, but it’s unique in it’s lack of corporate-type content which is refreshing.
Sure – not the best site, but a step in the right direction.

Its a step backwards not forwards! No one is going to say “Hmmm well I have nothing to do so I think I am going to see what moves on the Nandos site”. They will go on the site if they are looking for something…to read, not to do.
Sure a lot of websites suck because they are packed with endless copy but there are techniques of writing copy specially for the web i.e.: Short, clear and to the point
It is only a better designed version of this site: http://www.tuksfm.co.za/
Both are irritating and hard to use

After a minute of watching that spastic rotating chile I’d lost the will to live. Please, please no more morbidly obese flash sites …
