OMG look at GHD LOL
Posted on 08. Dec, 2008 by Jonathan Cherry.
If you’re male…a straight male who can braai meat without burning it and know the difference between rolling maul and a set scrum, then you shouldn’t have a clue as to what ghd sells.
But if you can successfully identify the four characters in Sex and the City and hand cream is an important part of your daily beauty regime. you’ll know that ghd have built up a world-beating hair straightening iron business….from frizz to fabulous in four easy strokes [that's our line - not ghd's]
The hair iron business must be pretty lucrative, cause check out their HQ in Leeds. The place looks a bit like the USS Enterprise in Star Trek.
The ghd brand seems to on a bit of a roll.
Locally ghd will be launching the ghd style lounge, a luxurious, temporary pop-up
salon [also featuring the rather cool Newton Machine photo booth, which Topshop in the UK also recently used] held at a secret location in Cape Town on December 12th for those much needed pre-party makeovers [we're told].
Entrance is free, but you’ll need to apply for star treatment online here. [thanks Dan]
Right – back to celebrating that Springbok win at the George 7′s.

The real story of how tasty creative juice is made

Mmmm…watching this short film can sure make you thirsty. There really is nothing better than a freshly squeezed chilled glass of creative juice with a shot of vodka for some extra zing. [thanks Adam]
The Nikon S60 – the camera for party people

Copy: “The Nikon S60. Detects up to 12 faces.”
We bought a Nikon years ago, because we believed that the conservative look of the equipment would aid in taking good snaps of whisps of cloud and frolicking puppies on fields of poppies.
Seems that the Nikon brand has changed direction slightly and are now designing camera products for Ron Jeremy.
In fact, the camera is so advanced that the company promises that you can get up to 12 faces [all in focus] in the shot. That’s more like a Rocco Siffredi style pic.

Barack Obama features in the new Nando’s ad…

…in the first 5 seconds of the clip, but it’s enough of a ‘B’ option to complete the A & C circle for fans of Quentin Tarantino script writing.
About time political satire was used effectively by South African brands.
Reality billboards
Posted on 02. Dec, 2008 by Jonathan Cherry.
Gillette have teamed up with EA Sports [smart move] and together they’re making gamers, who are taking part in their online Champions of Gaming Tournament, famous every Saturday in Times Square, New York when their faces get plastered up on this giant electronic billboard.
Apparently those that got chosen for the honour got sent a photograph of themselves in Times Square as a momento.
BTW – if you look slightly to the right of the Gillette billboard, check out the ‘Rock Fork’ on the side of that building…most probably part of the Hard Rock Cafe branding. Yeehaa.

How to date a superstar this December
Posted on 01. Dec, 2008 by Jonathan Cherry.
Going on a date with a superstar is not easy.
There’s the initial uneasiness as you get used to them when they’re first presented to you. The longing glares and jealous whisperings from the guests sitting at the other tables as you savour the moment.
Stars can sometimes be a little spicy and overpowering and that’s not always a good thing in a public place. So what you’re really looking for needs to be well-balanced, easy on the tongue and smooth as a recently polished Aston Martin fender. Price can never be an issue for you, but recent prestigious award-winning will always up the game a notch or two.
If you’re up for the challenge and you think you can handle the pressure of being the envy of everyone at a world-class Cape Town culinary establishment, then we have the very last 25 bottles of the 2006 5-star Platter Eagles’ Nest Shiraz available for you to review when you enjoy an evening out at Riboville this summer.
Let’s paint the picture for you here – Riboville is literally a cathedral of the best food and wine in the heart of the Cape Town CBD. The restaurant is set in the legendary ABC Bank Building at the top end of Adderley Street. The interior is well impressive and looks like a mixture between New York’s Grand Central Station and the Waldorf Astoria. Mick Jagger would feel at home here.
The old bank vault [where they used to stash the cash back in the 70s] has been turned into the wine cellar stocked with a collection of over 600 different wines from more than 110 estates. They’ve got everything from a Mauro Veglio Barbera to Lois Roederer Cristal champagne. It’s enough to make Donald Trump’s eyes water and well worth you gathering a small team together this festive season to go check it out.
We have only 25 ‘reviewer vouchers’ for the last existing bottles of Eagles’ Nest Shiraz, which entitle you to the privilege of tasting and reviewing this fine wine when you enjoy an evening out at Riboville.
If you’d like opportunity to get hold of one of these exclusive vouchers [which can be used for the whole month of December 2008 when having lunch or dinner at Riboville], simply send an e-mail to tips [at] cherryflava [dot] com with a good motivation as to why you are capable of writing a decent review of the Eagles’ Nest Shiraz.
