Our morning coffee is turning into a billboard
Posted on 21. Aug, 2008 by Jonathan Cherry in Uncategorized
Morning coffee during the drive to work is a quiet, relaxing time spent with a few foot-tapping, sing-a-long Slipknot tunes and a take-away latte.
But lately, our coffee receptacle is starting to look like Times Square. A subtle reminder of the premium brand we’re enjoying is acceptable, but all these other logos and messages on every available space on the little cup…it’s a bit much.
Come to think of it, we’d pay extra just to have the pleasure of not being sold something before the morning intake of caffeine.
Nerds and Virgins should patiently wait their turn for attention later in the day.

I’ve seen people use paper cups, even when they’re not taking away… WHY? Not that I’m defending anyone here, why not take your own re-usable coffee container that you find at homeware stores? I think Vida even offers a 10% discount for this…
It’s besides the point, I know, but just a thought anyway…

Grief, I so agree. I think we need to go the Adbusters route in SA. Just to remind ourselves ourselves that we can hit back at the ad onslaught.

Product punting here on Cherryflava is currently running at US$1 million a pop.
vida were so concerned that nobody could see the billboards on their cups that they thought this fee was a small price to pay to bring it to your attention that in fact there are messages to look at.
Hopefully it’s working.
