Marketing stunts from this weekend’s events at Silverstone and Wimbledon

Apart from the spectacle of grown men beating the hell out of eachother for nearly 5 hours, there were also faceless people sitting in the audience.
At first, everyone thought the condition may have been caused by too much bubbly, but turns out it was a viral marketing stunt — about the anonymity of humankind in the information age, for Lotus.
The stunt is linked to a website – you guessed it, called Facelesspeople.com which has a countdown to the unveiling of their new car. [via]
At the British Grand Prix in Silverstone, Toyota and Panasonic teamed up to take the Batmobile from the upcoming Dark Knight movie around the track for a couple of laps. Not exactly subtle, but probably bucketloads more capable of staying on the track when the rain falls than the rest of the field. [via]
