If you ever needed proof that SA was in trouble, this would be it.
Living in the UK these days this is the first I've heard about this blatant disregard for law and order. (And the worst of all is it's cheaper to bribe the corrupt system than paying the fine)
We need a drastic change in our Rainbow Nation. But unfortunately the corruption and "fill my pockets / survival first" mentality runs so high up the ladder that I wonder if there's even anyone left to stand up for justice?
My heart cries for you my country. We will follow the way of all African Democracy (Somalia, Nigeria, DRM, Zimbabwe etc etc etc.) It is inevitable.

I would love Arrive Alive to actually provide stats in terms of accidents caused by cars with plates to those without plates ... and then to compare the level of unsafe driving by those with plates i.e. taxis to those without plates ... then I might actually consider putting my plates back on!
I know that if we want to see a change, we all need to start with ourselves, but my protest, as such, is that I was a law-abiding citizen on the road from the day I received my license over a decade ago. I paid for all the fines, I made sure my licenses were always paid and up-to-date, yet I saw everything around me deteriorate. The taxis became more and more of a road hazard and the traffic department just became more and more corrupt. Till the day I see a proper change to bring my faith in the system back, I will continue to drive with my back plate off! If you disagree with my stand, you're entitled to, but there's only one thing that will make me change my mind, and that I have mentioned above. This is my challenge for the traffic dept!
