Guerrilla Graffiti Artist…exposed
Posted on 01. Nov, 2007 by Jonathan Cherry in Advertising
Even though many a city wall the world over has acted as a canvas to his elaborate and artistic creations, and even though he has inspired the likes of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt to shell out big bucks for his art work, a photograph of the elusive guerrilla graffiti artist Banksy (whose real name is believed to be Robert Banks) has hitherto never been seen.
Now a photographer claims to have caught the artist in the act. The scoop is disappointing: a somewhat blurry picture of a guy crouching by the side of a building, painting the wall.
However, the finished result of the art work – the double yellow lines from the side of the road extended by the artist to snake from the street onto the pavement and up the side of the building, where it blossomed into a yellow flower – smacks of Banksy.
The work is rounded off in typical Banksy-style with a picture of a bored looking council member sitting next to the flower and regarding his handiwork.
See – it’s not people from Saatchi & Saatchi like you all just assumed.

Am I missing something or does the scaffolding in the picture not make you question how “guerilla” that piece actually is?
