Art Hotel’s comic room
Posted on 20. Nov, 2006 by Jonathan Cherry.
In the ever increasing global competition to banish the boring hotel room – a German hotel has taken cell-shading to heart.
Check out this pic of the Comic Room in Berlin’s Arte Luise Kunsthotel.
This messing around with depth perception will completely freak you out if you’re a bit of a stoner. So if you’re planning to book in – lay off the light bulb and the Tintin for a bit.

Do you think we’re doing a good job? YES or YES
Posted on 20. Nov, 2006 by Jonathan Cherry.
A rather sly outdoor guerrilla campaign executed by the British government’s home office.
The boards asking people to press the button if they support the
policies of the government have been placed at several public places in
London.
Although effective, it smacks of government sponsored propaganda. Why would a government have to convince its citizens that its doing a good job – you should just get on with it.

How to promote toilet paper
Posted on 20. Nov, 2006 by Jonathan Cherry.
Its taken decades of research and numerous mind-numbing focus groups, but marketers are perhaps finally getting to grips with this product advertising thing. Instead of irritating the hell out of consumers with stupid 30-second films – they’re getting into this idea of making people’s lives better as a form of brand promotion.
Procter and Gamble’s Charmin toilet paper brand will operate a public restroom in the heart of Times
Square, amply stocked with Charmin Ultra, and complete with attendants
who are assigned to clean up after each use.“Think of it as our holiday gift to New York,” Mr. Legault, brand manager for Charmin said.
Brand
specialists say it is actually New York’s holiday gift to Charmin.
“Really, how often do you get to introduce your product in a one-on-one
fashion, to a highly motivated audience that is almost certain to
respond with gratitude?” said James R. Gregory, chief executive of the
brand consulting firm CoreBrand.Charmin representatives will be roaming the Times Square streets
dressed as toilets, handing out fliers advertising the restroom’s
location.
Clearly toilet’s are a scarce resource in NYC and Lindsay Lohan must be a permanent spokesperson for the Charmin brand.
We see ample opportunity for Baby Soft to get involved at the airports on this one.

Skimming: Bond movie like one long ad

If it weren’t for James Bond – the Walther PPK would be just another weapon and Bollinger would sell next to Tassies.

in a rock band to promote their message of protecting your computer

Mommy blogger on Carte Blanche this Sunday
Posted on 17. Nov, 2006 by Jonathan Cherry.
Breaking SA blogging news: Tertia, from the local blog So Close, has turned to the dark side and will be making her [and SA independent publishing's] TV debut on Carte Blanche this Sunday.
They’re doing a feature on her blog, which is all about babies, and its resulting book.
Nice one.
UPDATE: Stop everything – The Carte Blanche producers didn’t
finish the show in time. So please note that there will be no blogging on TV this Sunday. Should air some time in January.
Borat starts in South Africa and the PS3 launched in the US and A
Posted on 17. Nov, 2006 by Jonathan Cherry.

We sincerely hope that its a balmy evening in San Fransisco, as thousands hang outside retailers through the night to get their hands on the new Sony PS3.
When was the last time people queued to secure a new banking product?
A comprehensive gallery and almost live blogging updates from Gizmodo.
Bunch of geeks!
Closer to home – Borat’s movie finally get show time in South Africa from today. We wonder if the lesser SA online marketing buzz will make any difference to the movie’s success here.
Check out one of the only interviews with Borat as himself, Sacha Baron Cohen on Jon Stewart.
Accessorize the street
Posted on 17. Nov, 2006 by Jonathan Cherry.
This guerrilla marketing campaign for the jewellery brand; Accessorize – would never work here.
These giant necklaces were used in the streets of Geneva [probably the only place on earth they wouldn't get stolen] instead of the familiar chains that prevent cars to enter.

Brandoodles: Nothing like Twister
Posted on 17. Nov, 2006 by Jonathan Cherry.
If spending a long, hot, lazy, Pina Colada flava’d beach holiday away from traffic, work, business and brands scares the living hell out of you…then perhaps you’d better pick up the Brandoodles game along with the Cadac refill.
As far as we can work out, from the cheesy promo video – its a brand recognition game for the shopping obsessed.
Its much like that ‘can you guess the brand’ email that floats around, destroying cube farm productivity all the time.
We’ll wait for the PS3 and rather try identify in-game ads while destroying everything.

Zune vs. iPod

Round 1 – ping…..
Can Microsoft’s MP3 unseat the mighty iPod. We’ve got a funny feeling that its the bloggers that will decide.
