Google now maps SA

Up until now, Google Maps has always been a fun and useful tool – if you lived in California.
But now, the people from MapStudio, and other companies in SA that make maps, will be sweating grenades and throwing darts at screen shots of the Google homepage.
Because Google maps is now suddenly available for the streets of South Africa.
Hip hip…hooray. We have arrived. Palo Alto knows we exist.
Whats the bet – some Google hobnobs are coming to tan their skinny, white asses on Clifton beach this December and thought they’d might as well get some directional information loaded, so they don’t land up in Rondebosch or something awful like that.
They’re not the most accurate or comprehensive street maps you’ve ever seen – but its a start.
[Thanks Henk - who spotted this first]

Microsoft’s Live Local has been doing this for a while now: http://local.live.com/
Their info seems a bit better, there seem to be more street and suburb names, although both are lacking a bit.
