Would you like a charge with that?

As the world becomes more mobile, the need to have mobile devices charged on the run is developing into a ‘why didn’t I think of that’ business model, that has countless possibilities here in SA.
Here are a couple of charging ideas, which have recently caught our eye:
From cellphones to iPods, cameras, laptops and stun guns; all of these toys need juice to work, and lugging around a silly charger for everyone is a right pain.
Splashpower is a wireless device charger that works with multiple gadgets and charges them all at the same time. That’s right – wireless charging. Just bring your phone close to the pad and its getting a powerup.

Mobcharger (picture related) is a disposable emergency charging pack that connects to your low-battery cellphone and can give you up to 90 minutes of talktime, or 480 minutes of standby. Estimated to cost around $10 (R75) its a handy survival tool – just in case Koeberg starts playing up again.

Chargebox from the UK is a set of lockers designed to charge batteries of phones and other mobile devices.
Something which will work well at airports – ChargeBox has six lockers with each locker containing four different
chargers. The user picks the appropriate locker for their device, opens
the door and attaches the device to a charger inside. Payment is then
made either with a GBP 1 coin or by sending an SMS to a specific code.
Once payment has been received, the door can be locked and charging
begins.

Coincidentally on the way up to Manchester this weekend I spotted a Chanrgebox for the first time in a service station on the M1!
