Brands that listen: Belthazar, Cape Town

In january of this year, sister blog Lusharazzi.com posted a rather scathing review and rant of Belthazar’s ‘Outside-dining-area’s wine policy’.
In summary – the problem was generated around Belthazar’s strange policy not to allow patrons to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in the restaurant’s outside area without also ordering a meal.
See, Belthazar is said to be the world’s biggest by-the-glass-wine-bar, but were kind of sticky about letting you just sit and drink wine outside at peak hours.
Last week, we received a phone call from Belthazar with the excellent news that, because of the posting on Lusharazzi – they had reviewed their policy and have changed it to now allow patron to enjoy their wine, the view, and the outside seating area without having to order food.
The power of blogs in South Africa has just been proven.
Well done to Belthazar for being big enough to admit their mistake, and forward thinking enough to realise that what the independant media is saying should be taken seriously.
Now hopefully Mushy Peas on Toast gets a sorry letter from First for Woman.
[Unfortunately, due to technical reasons, we can't link to the original Lusharazzi review - older posts no longer being available on the site]

Bloody right, pretentious sods. Certainly took them a while didn’t it?

BTW – They’ll let you BYO too if you’re having dinner inside.

Hi
An update -
I definitely got a sorry letter from FFW. They hounded me for weeks, pleading me to take the angry post off the blog. I refused, and as a result, they have sent me sorry letters, offered to reduce my premiums and sent me a care package in the medium of an aromatherapy massage.
This is lovely and everything – but I still wonder whether they are doing anything in light of installing pirate parts on people’s cars.
