Puma invites you to adopt a German
Posted on 22. May, 2006 by Cassandra.
In the lead up to World Cup 2006 – Puma are being sneaky and have decided to promote the image of Germans by inviting the rest of Europe to be nice to them and ‘Adopt a German’.
The idea: Puma set about a search for twelve Germans, who have now become unofficial ambassadors for Germany. [pictured here]
The group have now taken a tour of leading European cities, drunk a continent load of booze and have invited football hooligans from the neighbourhood to join them in bars back home to continue hitting the grog and throwing the empties at big screen TVs.
It all plays out like an online / blogged version of Big Brother, where you can read their diaries and vote for your favourite. Oh yeah…and it’s sponsored by Puma who are direct competitors of the official sports apparel suppliers, Adidas.
Breaking news at this hour is that there are unfortunately renewed fears that German neo-Nazis are planning lots of violence as their own little welcoming gift to the world cup. Charming.
City venture 2

This is the second series of shots from the Cherryflava / Gosu photoventure in and around the city of Cape Town.
If you take the time – there are millions of unbelievable shots to be taken around the station area and the Golden Acre.
Huge thanks to Jason from Gosu for the collaboration – the first of many. Watch out for the next one.
City venture 1

The planned photoventure around the streets of Cape Town was a huge success despite early morning showers and near freezing conditions.
Instead of a security guard protest – all we had was these secret undercover Ster Kinekor marketers cleverly advertising a new movie in town.
Check out the first set of shots from the Cherryflava / Gosu photoventure.

Good food and wine
Posted on 19. May, 2006 by Cassandra.
We got down to the Gourmet festival last night and took a couple of shots of the action.
Personally, on the down side there where just one too many big retailers there splashing their big corporate branding everywhere.
If I want to visit Pick ‘n Pay or Spar I’d prefer not to pay R75 for the privilege, but there where a few independent suppliers that made up for it.
Don’t forget the Cherryflava / Gosu photoventure tomorrow morning. See you there.

If you’re into watching celebrity chefs create art from everyday produce – then the Good food and Whine show is for you. There’s more than enough to taste and sip so be sure not to eat before you go.
Doctor shoots seagull for crapping in salad and vandalising city.
Posted on 18. May, 2006 by Cassandra.
Just like here in Cape Town the small town of Dartmouth in Devon, England is also dealing with delinquent security guards who have cleverly disguised themselves as seagulls.
In a desparate effort to stop the city’s destruction from the disguised guards a doctor who campaigned to rid a town of gulls was convicted yesterday
of shooting a bird that had dropped it’s guts into his wife’s salad.
In what sounds to be a very similar complaint to our own situation the doctor stated: “I believe the risk to my family was extreme. They can cause death. I
tried a range of methods to get rid of them, like a distress call and
firing blanks, but none of them worked."
The community are shocked and outraged at the killing. Paul Taylor, for the prosecution, said: “There is no denying the
seagull he killed was a nuisance but does being a nuisance justify this
killing?"
Somebody should shoot our seagulls.
Da Vinci Code early film reviews: Not good
Posted on 18. May, 2006 by Cassandra.
The next phase of the Dan Brown marketing machine kicks into global action this weekend, but already there are critics throwing tomatoes at the film.
The film is a disaster from beginning to end – not only
does Dan Brown’s retarded story become even more ridiculous when
amplified and projected on screen, the movie version manages to be
crushingly dull. [more here]
Time.com: it’s not very good — long (2hr.32min.) and mostly inert.
…and a full roundup of the first reviews over here.
All the same, audiences will still flock to see the thing, and buy the special Da Vinci Code popcorn, blow-up doll and video game.
