World’s most beautiful people
Posted on 28. Apr, 2006 by Cassandra.
…at play in the Namibian desert.
We’re almost certain that the only reason the Jolie/Pitt team are in Namibia is cause they saw our photoshoot and were to well impressed – they decided to visit and set up camp for themselves.
People magazine have released the much anticipated list of the most beautiful human specimans on the planet.
All the usual suspects are present – including the uber Namib family. BTW – the sand pics (seen here) reportedly cost People magazine $700K.
See – now Namibia is the world’s number one tourist destination. Wonder how much that cost the Namibian government?
Pirates in Table Bay
Posted on 27. Apr, 2006 by Cassandra.
We spotted this dodgy-looking pirate ship catching the breeze under full sail just off the beach in Blouberg.
Not the most romantic sailing ship we’d ever seen, but you can see the rest of this short powerpost here.

Shots of a pirate invasion spotted this afternoon in Cape Town’s Table Bay. Feel like a rum and Coke now.
Cherryflava free iPod offer
Posted on 26. Apr, 2006 by Cassandra.
It’s the new marketing currency it seems, ’cause people will do just about anything for a free iPod. For example…..
Pretend you’re my fiance
I need a guy to pretend he’s my fiance and take me (i’m the one on the
left) to my family reunion this June in NY. My parents are pressuring
me to get married to a high-paid guy like my sisters but I dont want
to. They give me a monthly allowance and I don’t want it to get cut
off. This is a 1time thing but I may neeed you again in the future. I
know it sounds pathetic but I think we can have fun doing it. THere’s
an open bar, so hahaha!

To apply to this and many more check out the special iPod dare section on SpyMac. [via]
To test the theory in South Africa: Cherryflava is offering a free iPod shuffle (512MB) to a person who stands in busy morning traffic anywhere in South Africa with a sign stating: ‘I’m standing here to win a free iPod from Cherryflava.com’.
Competition rules: Send a photograph of your attempt to us at cherryflava (at) gmail (dot) com by next week Friday 5 May 2006.
We’ll put all the attempts up on this site and allow you (the readers of Cherryflava) to vote for your favourite. Entry with the most votes wins the iPod.
Make sure your attempt is original, creative, memorable and your sign is super-clear and noticeable.
Google markets the Da Vinci code
Posted on 25. Apr, 2006 by Cassandra.
Get ready for the new standard in online marketing.
Google has
teamed with Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Columbia Pictures to create a
puzzle-themed 24-day contest for the studio’s upcoming "Da Vinci Code"
film. The program, which lets people opt-in to see contest updates on
their personalized Google home pages, exemplifies the publisher’s
efforts to take its relationships with marketers beyond paid search ads.
Get to the launch site here.
The Google giant has moved beyond small copy-driven links into interactive designed marketing campaigns. Advertising will never be the same again.
BTW – The first
10,000 people to crack the code win cracking prizes, but only if you live in the US, UK or Sheepville.
Business idea of the day

One of a kind clothing items for those that can afford it.
We’re loving this idea. Think we’ll put in an order for a couple of Cherryflava faux fur branded hoodies for the next game at Newlands.
Skype to sell music online
Posted on 25. Apr, 2006 by Cassandra.
Tired of waiting for Apple iTunes to make a decision about coming to South Africa?
Forget bloody iTunes – Skype has secured a deal with EMI which will see the online maverick sell music downloads from their online store. In the Skype deal, the company will have rights to sell music globally rather than a country-by-country set up that exists with iTunes. [via]
That means that you might finally be able to access legal music downloads in South Africa to drop onto your long suffering iPod – without having to resort to that crap Musica online store effort.
Not available yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
Survivor South Africa: What if you don’t make it?
Posted on 24. Apr, 2006 by Cassandra.
If ‘The Beach’ is your all time favourite movie, and not getting into Survivor South Africa is going to have you lash yourself to traintracks in hopes of a quick ending – then here’s another chance for you to get to do the whole island roughing it thing and live your dream of tribal domination.
Launched last week by two young British entrepreneurs, tribewanted is creating a global tribe that will develop a sustainable eco-community on an island in Fiji.
In what seems like a hippie dream crossed with an episode of
Survivor, tribewanted is looking for 5000 people from around the world
to become part of a tribe that will not only exist online, but will
also settle, 100 at a time, on ‘Adventure Island’. On the map,
Adventure Island is known as Vorovoro, and is being leased to
tribewanted by the local tribal chief. [via]
For more info check out the tribewanted site and join up.
This is not reality TV – this is real life. Be part of a real adventure. Join the tribe.
Dumb

Our very own Jacob Zuma could take a page from this guy’s creative story book….
A man who claims he mistakenly had sex with "the wrong woman" after
entering a dark bedroom at the home of a Sydney magazine editor was
yesterday committed to stand trial for rape.
Rest of the story here.
If you’re a beeeg American Idol fan and you don’t want to know what’s happening 4 weeks down the line (the American series is about that far ahead of our own DSTV version) then stop reading this now.
The show’s making headlines on CNN. Check out what’s happening in the future here.
Local kwaito learns from Hip Hop antics
Posted on 21. Apr, 2006 by Cassandra.
It’s kind of exciting that local kwaito star Pitch Black Afro has caught onto the subtle Hollywood-style of self promotion by having a public barney at the Rosebank Mall in Johannesburg.
It’s reported that.…Pitch Black apparently broke a window, tables and chairs while assaulting a fan,
Motlatsi Mafatshe, at the premiere after-party of Oscar award-winning
movie Tsotsi in Rosebank in February.
It’s a bit far from the drivebys that would really secure Mr. Afro the top headlines, but a good start non the less.
