Nail biting is an interesting topic to chew on. Some creatives got the opportunity to do just that and came up with this fairly nasty looking concept.

World Western world renown anti nail biting product  "Stop’n'Grow" have released a
fantastic marketing and advertising campaign in the form of plastic
carry bag. The bag is ingeniously printed so that its message is
delivered as you carry it.

The mind seriously boggles when thinking about where this type of creative execution could eventually take us….but let’s not go there today. Via the cool hunter

If you thought that Kevin Pietersen and the Beatles were the best things ever to emerge from the British Isles….you could be right.

But, just in case you needed another excuse to shout to the heavens; "I didn’t know that those were designed by a pom" or "Wow…I never realised how useful those yobs really are"….check out the Great British Design Quest. [via]

Our favourites have to be Grand Theft Auto and the London underground map…which is hell of a useful here in Cape Town. Go there and vote for your favourite.

Now not all good things are British mind you…don’t forget that it was a South Africa who invented the Kreepy Krawly, and some bloke has just invented a machine that cleans tekkies. Which is fairly useful if you’re married to Bruce Fordyce.

Tourist sets Cape Town alight

There’s still chaos in Cape Town after a British tourist is alleged to have started a fire on the mountain. Nice one.

What where you thinking dude?
You don’t see Safricans trooping through Buckingham palace, flicking cigarettes around trying to set the thing alight do you?

The fire is apparently now under control, but come 12pm, the south easter starts cracking on a bit of a pace..there could be more problems.

The fire fighters should flippin well get a medal for their work. Requests for firemen / fire woman at hen and bachelor parties are set to rocket.

What has happened to good old traditional run-of-the-frikkin-mill advertising that everyone watched and loved, and went out and supported?

Now it’s all about ’shock’ publicity, nip slips, leaked ‘private’ tapes and posing to be the ’second coming’.

Not since Dan Brown took communion at the Vatican has the Catholic church been abuzz with so much chatter…. rapper Kanye West is sparking mild natter by featuring as Jesus Christ on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.

Who wins here? Does RS sell more mags to Catholics or do all the Goths convert to R&B as a mark of respect?
We’re hearing the Beatles here people.
Mr West…..stop listening to your delusional publicist and do something amazing like….sing in tune, or hug a puppy.

No Jeanpant day

The yanks have lost their sense of humor humour.

Last Sunday a small group of activists took to the NYC subway not wearing any pants. Now don’t get confused with the annual No Pants Day celebrations which happen in May…these guys just felt like travelling without pants on.

No harm there?

It was the first time the practical joke backfired,
ending dramatically at the 59th Street stop of the 6 train, when a
confused police officer boarded the train, saw the spectacle, and
called for backup. While pants were quickly handed out, the officer
stopped the train, ordered all the riders to exit, and eventually
arrested six of the pranksters–the unfortunate few who had been unable
to locate their britches in time. One of those arrested
was Erin McCarson, 23, a nanny, who was handcuffed and led to a police
wagon, while her friend, Mamrie Hart, 22, collected Erin’s pants and
wondered what to do next.

Jeez..America is starting to sound like a really anal place to live.
Lighten up. Let the people leave their pants at home if they want.
We’ve got a guy who sleeps outside here at Cherryflava HQ who never wears any pants and that’s just accepted as kind of normal for these parts.

Big brother is watching

If you didn’t already know….every time you log into Google searching for a a cheap cure for that annoying fungal rash, they record your IP address and the history of your search.

More than three quarters of web surfers don’t realize that Google
records and stores information that may identify them, according to a
new opinion poll.

Google maintains a lifetime cookie that expires in 2038, and records
the user’s IP address. But more recently it has begun to integrate
services which record the user’s personal search history, email,
shopping habits, and social contacts. After first promising not to tie
its email service to its search service, Google went ahead and opted
its users in anyway. It’s all part of CEO Eric Schmidt’s promise to
create a "Google that knows more about you."

So think again…that brightly coloured logo doesn’t exactly equal privacy.

South Africa: the tour

Just in case we’d forgotten about any glaringly obvious unique travel adventures in our own back yard, we we’re scanning though a list of 25 must-do things in SA written with Indian tourism in mind, and were reminded of a couple of things….

Example:

In Knysna, go for a sunset cruise down the lagoon, eat freshly harvested oysters, see if their aphrodisiacal qualities work.

Finally,  fly South African Airways’ flat-bed Business Class or
hitch an upgrade. Eight hours are too brief and you wish the flight was
longer…

Coco Pops are not healthy

Nothing like a sharp stab of reality to prompt you to spray your morning cereal over breakfast nook.

Who knew? The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has ordered SA’s largest breakfast
cereal producer, Kellogg, to stop claiming its children’s cereals are “healthy”,
following a complaint by rival Bokomo, a division of Pioneer
Foods.

The ruling basically states that Kellogg’s may not use the word ‘healthy’ anywhere near the words Coco Pops, Coco Pops Jumbos, Strawberry Pops, Frosties, Froot Loops and Rice
Krispies.

But, if you’d ever read the ingredients of Coco Pops you’d probably already realised that eating a refined processed sugar snack is not exactly the best thing you can toss into your stomach first thing in the morning.
