The new cube

Remember the cube? That thing that all the nerds could twist a couple of times and all the colours landed up where they were supposed to.
Well…the lastest craze is Sudoku. It’s actually been around for ages, but newspapers in the UK have revived the puzzle recently.
It quiet easy to play….the object is to insert the numbers in the boxes to satisfy only
one condition: each row, column and 3×3 box must contain the digits 1
through 9 exactly once. What could be simpler?

If you get addicted, but the dog isn’t happy with being kicked because you suck at it and it drives you crazy….here’s a site which claims they have a formula to solve any sudoku puzzle….or visit the Sudoku blog.

Canada takes game in porn contest

This morning…Canadians all over are going as crazy as they can because they’ve finally won something.
Natalie Glebova of Canada won the Miss Universe contest last night, and this is a pic of the lovely Natalie with, what organisors told her, was her country’s flag.
We know she does look a bit unsure of it.
Glebova, a 23-year-old motivational speaker from Toronto,
succeeded last year’s winner, Australian Jennifer Hawkins,
after the usual evening gown and swimsuit parades that pull in
TV viewers worldwide but outrage feminists and traditionalists.
Now really, if you know that seeing hot woman in swimwear on a stage is going to piss you off….don’t watch the damb show. Turn the TV off. Step away from the remote…go knit something.
Even though 25-year-old law student Artika Sari Devi opted
to wear a one-piece swimsuit rather than the skimpier two-piece
bikinis favored by most contestants, conservatives reacted with
anger, branding the pageant "pornography."
We’ve sorry we missed it in that case. As expected… Miss South Africa choked and didn’t make the top 5. Her hair and teeth were just not big enough to pull her through.
London comes to Cape Town

Every major city in the world has it’s own distinct flava when it comes to public motor vehicle transport.
New York has millions of yellow cabs, Bangkok has tuk-tuks…and London has the famous black London taxi.
Now the very same black London taxi can be seen working the streets of Cape Town…along with hundreds of minibus taxis.
Word has it that you’ll pay about R10/km for the privilege to ride in London’s Cape Town’s finest, but there are a number of ergonomic benefits when using one of these vehicles…which, could come in handy when you’re needing landing lights to guide you to your ride at the end of a heavy night out. We wouldn’t be surprised if they piped a brass band rendition of ‘Royal Britannia’ through the cars high-tech sounds system as well.
Let’s see how long the poms can stay on the streets before mysteriously disappearing.
You’ll never walk alone

Even if you’re not a big football fan, last night’s Champions League final was a cracker.
Cherryflava tuned in mainly because it was a final and after the first half it was just so obvious that Milan was going to easily walk home. That was until Liverpool scored three terrific goals in the space of six minutes.
First Gerrard rose well to head a John Arne Riise cross
past the stationary Dida and two minutes later German Dietmar
Hamann, a halftime substitute, set up Smicer who beat Dida with
a low drive from 20 meters.With Milan’s defense reeling, Gerrard burst into the Milan
area and was bundled over by Gennaro Gattuso for a penalty.Dida dived to parry out Xabi Alonso’s spot-kick but the
Spaniard hammered the loose ball into the roof of the net.
The game ended with penalties…Liverpool winning that 3-2. Lovely to watch.
Sunset boats

Cape Town’s Waterfront is always a good spot to take a few quiet snaps. The small mooring area at the Cape Grace is always full of Monte Carlo-type super yachts parked right next to old fishing sea dogs. It’s a mix which comes alive as the sun set.

A very long training ride

Imagine waking up one day and deciding to take a year to cycle around the African continent. Well…that’s exactly what Riaan, a 29 year old Capetonian has done.
The best part is the adventure, Africa365, has a website with stories and photographs.
He’s been thrown into jail, endured unimaginable heat, insect plagues and a serious fall which had to be stitched without anesthetic.
‘50 km\h on a gravel mountain pass near
Tchibanga in Gabon is how and where it happened. My checklist of
injuries were as follows : cut elbow ; cut on my head ; swollen and
bruised hip ; grased knee , back and shoulder , and a bruised ego . No
, the latter was not the case actually. I can remember the first thing
i thought to myself , even before the dust had settled , is that my
fall would have made good television . I also queried my lack of spare
brake pads which was the primary reason for my demise i think . But
ironically i was congratulating myself for not dying and for " over
packing " the medicine kit . The cut on my elbow needed a stitch or two
but being a 100 odd km from the nearest hospital i had to resort to
steri strips and bandages . But thats enough about the fall although
for those concerned ones out there i am well on the way to recovery .
Thank you .I made good time to Mouila but my
equipment proved it wasnt as tough as me . I neede new front and rear
sprockets, a new chain those all important brake pads . Mouila was not
in a position to assist me and with my gear been quite specificI had to
get to Libreville to repair my bike . I fortunately found a lift
directly to libreville the very next day . Once in libre i visited the
Soth African Embassy , who surprisingly enough were expecting me . They
in true SA fashion helped me find a good bicycle mechanic and some
comfortable accomad. Being a day before christmas i was also invited to
spend Christmas day with some of the embassy staff . I was extremely
greatful for their hospitality and their presents too . They gave me
chocalate , something which the africa365 budget cannot afford . DHL in
Libreville were also kind enough to sponsor the transport of the new
bicycle parts from SA , as they were not locally available . This meant
, because of the holidays inbetween , i happened to welcome in the new
year with my fellow Safricans in Libreville , Gabon . . No alchohol for
me as i had to be up bright and early on new years day to find a lift
back to my original breakdown point , Mouila . This backtracking only
goes to re affirm my comitment to complete this trip around the
continent, single handedly and unaided.

Google has been brainstorming again and have launched a personalised version of Google….just for you…
…it’s basically a custom portal of your own Google services, like a Gmail
preview and Google News highlights, as well as Word of the Day,
Weather (US only at this stage), and Wired News updates. [Via Gizmodo]

The mystery of the Piano man

This is a story more suited to a Hollywood movie than the front page of a newspaper…but it’s had the UK mystified for almost a month now.
The story is that a man dressed in a tux was found drenched, wandering the streets of the Isle of Sheppey. He was mute, had no form of identification and all of the labels of his clothes had been cut out.
When police gave him a sheet of paper, he drew a grand piano. When taken to a piano….the mystery man proceeded to play like a world-class concert pianist.
To date…he hasn’t spoken a word and nobody knows who he is.
It all sounds like a brilliant publicity stunt for a movie…but it now seems unlikely. But…hang about…this guy looks a bit like 2Oceansvibe’s TBG? Could it be him?
