Musica…the local music retail brand….has finally decided to take a tentative step into the online downloadable music market.
Musica MD Colin Robb said: "The international download market is growing apace and as South Africa’s largest retailer, Musica, had to be the first to offer a download service here. Our customers would expect us to offer the service and, as they already know and trust our brand, we’re confident that they’ll feel safe and comfortable buying music online through the Musica website."
Huh???? What is unsafe about buying music online that your brand is going to offer us that other international brands don’t?
Musica is gonna whack you R10 a track…which is a complete ripoff compared to Apple’s iTunes which is 99 US cents (+-R5.80)….and the Musica option doesn’t support Mac users…there goes all of the agency creatives that might have been interested in using the service.
Sure you are definately going to be able to get local tunes not available at the big global sites, but other than that…stick to the professionals.

And don’t forget http://www.allofmp3.com. The RIAA knows about it and seems to think its cool (its been around for years). I have used them with no problems…

Uhhh, Apple may claim to offer the best downloadable music service on the planet, but I was always under the impression that the service was only available in Europe/ The States – an issue confirmed by my Mac technician. That didn’t stop me from buying a 20 gig iPod though!
