Where’s Paris
Posted on 28. Oct, 2004 by Cassandra.
Gawker reports that Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are seen walking the streets of Manhatten with matching pink covered rats…no actually those are dogs…in preparation for the upcoming series of the Simple Life 3.
How shopping in New York is going o help the girls is still unknown, but it’s good to see them out and about. And no Paris was not in Cape Town….
How to flirt
Posted on 28. Oct, 2004 by Cassandra.
It’s spring time in Cape Town. People are emerging from their dark spaces of hibernation and hitting the beach, bars and other social gatherings.
If you’re single…or not…you need to arm yourself with a weapon that’s gonna make your social life more interesting.
Flirting is an artform and requires lots of practice if you’re hoping to be good at it. Sadly…most people suck at it, but to help you be the real star that you really are, here are a few flirting do’s and don’ts.
For example: Flirting basics:
Be Spontaneous – Don’t think too hard about what you’re going to say – just really listen to what the other person is saying and let yourself respond naturally. Don’t worry about what might happen next – live for the moment! You might not get another chance to talk to the person! So go for it!
Make Eye Contact – When talking to a guy, make sure you have good eye contact. You don’t have to stare! But don’t look all around the room, either, or he’ll think you’re looking for someone more interesting to hang out with. Let him know with your eyes that he is the person you would most like to be talking to.
Flea market

New pics of Cape Town’s Sunday flea market out in Milnerton. You can basically buy anything there if you can stomach the smell of dodgy meat cooking on open braai’s, but the photo opportunities are worth it.
Lunar eclipse
Posted on 27. Oct, 2004 by Cassandra.
If you’re an early bird…there will be a full lunar eclipse tomorrow morning at about 4:30am till after 5.
If you’re not into getting up so early, here are the Cherryflava pics taken of the eclipse which happened in May…so you’re not missing anything. Just stare at these pics, rub blocks of ice on yourself and put a fan on fullblast close to you, and it’s the same as waking up to see it.
Then again it will be the last lunar eclipse till 2007…so if that bothers you, set the alarm.
What is an eclipse? Simmer down big boy…here’s lunar eclipse 101 just for you…..and something more higher grade for the clever readers.
Chicago comes to Cape Town
Posted on 27. Oct, 2004 by Cassandra.
Broadway and the whole idea of an arts culture is a big thing in cities like New York, London and Sydney. And it seems to becoming fairly trendy in our neck of the woods too.
Big news on the theatre platform is that Chicago – The Musical is coming to South Africa in 2005.
The show opens at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre in April 2005 before moving to the Artscape in Cape Town for a limited run.
Set in Chicago in the 1920s, the musical’s electric mood, sophisticated, sexy dancing and sweet, saucy singing tells of the transformation of female prisoners into provocative femmes fatale who acquire star status through their publicity stunts.
Even if you’ve been forced to sit through the movie with your girlfriend, you know that you’re going to have to fork out the dosh and get tickets for this one. It’s the theatre equivalent of Micheal Jackson touring SA.
Maybe it’ll do you some good though. Here’s a hot tip…if you really want to impress a girl on a first date, forget about a beer at the sports bar, take her to the theatre. There are two in Cape Town called the Baxter and Artscape.
They are not really that scary. See what’s on…you never know you might enjoy it.

Cherryflava is in the process of giving the look-and-feel of the site a bit of a how’s your father. A new addition to the site’s functionality is the Google search tool which you can find on the left here.
The search box is powered by Google and will allow you to find stuff which you think you might have read on Cherryflava as well as allowing access to the WWW.
Watchout for more developments in the near future.
Give it a whirl……
Local girls hit the surf
Posted on 26. Oct, 2004 by Cassandra.
Surfing in South Africa used to be a sport for boys only. The girlfriends were just supposed to sit on the beach, tan and look cool. Things are changing though. Girls are getting into the water faster than everybody imagined.
TEENAGE girls in South Africa are stoked about surfing and savvy marketers are jumping in to grab a slice of this multimillion-rand market.
Says John McCarthy, associate publisher of Saltwater Girl magazine: “Most of the girls who read us are not surfers. They aspire to the surfing head-space, which is associated with freedom, healthy outdoor living and self-expression.”
As a measure of the rise of surfer girl-power, the circulation of the three-year-old Saltwater Girl is now double that of Zigzag, its sistermagazine at Atoll Media, a division of Touchline Media. [via]
Good on the girls….it’s really nice to see that the water is no longer just for boys.
